Trevor Pontillo, LCSW, CCATP
My name is Trevor Pontillo, and I hail from the northern Chicago suburbs, nestled near the Wisconsin border. My journey is woven with a love for soccer, which I pursued from high school through college, later transitioning into coaching young athletes. Alongside this passion, I've delved into running wilderness therapy groups, where I discovered the profound impact of nature on personal growth. Drawing from these diverse experiences, I now specialize in helping young individuals overcome performance anxiety, leveraging insights gained from both the field and the great outdoors to guide them toward success.
As a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), I am committed to helping adolescents and young adults navigate the challenges and transitions of life. My practice is built on a foundation of client-centered therapy, with a focus on empowering my clients to achieve their full potential and emotional well-being.
I have spent 8 years in the mental health field, and during this time, I have had the privilege of working with numerous young individuals as they face the unique pressures and uncertainties of adolescence and early adulthood. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, respect, and understanding, creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions freely.
My Approach
I believe that every person is unique and possesses the inner strength to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. To facilitate this journey, I draw upon concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These evidence-based approaches empower clients to develop effective coping strategies, manage emotions, and build resilience in the face of life's difficulties.
In my practice, clients are the experts of their own lives. I collaborate closely with adolescents and young adults to set personalized goals, explore their values, and work towards creating positive change. I understand the importance of fostering a therapeutic alliance built on trust and genuine connection.
